gotta get down on friday.

it's friday. finally.
sorry to keep referencing that song...it's just so catchy/fitting/hilarious to make fun of.

after three tests this week, i'm so very very happy it's the weekend!
i love america and everything but sometimes i feel like american heritage is the devil...

i plan to spend it:
-throwing chalk at the hindu festival of colors
-playing pick-up games of basketball
-having movie nights with my favorite girls
-hanging out with my sister
-trying to forget the misery i'm still feeling over last night's game
[maybe i shouldn't have brought it up....too soon.]

look at him with his little chin bandage! he tried so hard. love you, jimmer.

day three.

a picture of you and your friends

these are my church friends from home [dressed as the disney princesses for probably my all-time favorite girls camp skit]. i miss them mucho. young women's with these pretty ladies was the best and i'm so excited that i get to be a chaperone for them at youth conference this year!

these are my best friends from high school. they are currently attending reed, ramapo, and randolph-macon and i miss them lots but know they are doing well and loving life!

these are the lovely ladies of taylor 1100. i'm so grateful and blessed to share a hall with them and to have gotten to know each of them this year. they are so fun and happy and sweet, and they all have such strong testimonies. living with these girls makes me strive to be better every day.

these are, of course, my sisters. they are pretty much my favorite people in the world and no one understands me like they do. they are so supportive and loving and crazy and fun and i'm happy to be the middle sister in between these two cuties/crazies.

oh wait i can't forget my basketball BFFs, jimmer and jackson. okay i'm just dreaming here. but good luck in march madness, buddies. i love ya.

basketball bliss.

as you may have gathered from reading my blog, i love byu basketball more than life itself. well, almost. anyway, if you hadn't heard, last week we were ranked third in the nation. it's a pretty big deal.

yesterday afternoon was our last home game and it was the most wonderful and epic basketball game i've ever attended in my life.

my friend emma and i got up at 5 a.m. to wait in line for seats, but then my cousin ariel, who has an internship with byu athletic marketing ended up getting us seats in the very first row!

before this game, the student section had secretly learned a dance together, and during one of the timeouts, the music came on and everyone danced! all the other people there were so surprised. if you look really closely near the end of the video, you can see me and emma! we are in the very first row to the far left. [i'm the one whose long brown hair is swinging wildly....]

we were so close, which made the game 8798762356 times more exciting. all our players were on fire, and we won with a final score of 102 to 78. we are officially the champions of the mountain west conference! after the game confetti cannons went off and there were lots of awards presented. jimmer, jackson, and logan, our seniors, all gave little speeches. i'm going to miss them so much!

the best part of the day, though, was definitely when cat, emma, chloe, and i went back to the marriott center a while later and all the players were leaving. we got to meet jackson emery! he's probably my favorite player, and he was sooo nice.

byu basketball season, i'm going to miss you.

fredette about it.

can i just say I LOVE BYU BASKETBALL?
wednesday night we whooped the [previously ranked #4] san diego state aztecs.
i was there and it was one of the most exciting events of my life.

below is a wonderful and thrilling assortment of byu basketball stories and moments of glory. get ready to be impressed.

story number one.
remember that time when i talked about wanting to meet jimmer? well, if i've never mentioned it before...i did. i met him at one of the football games. and this is how it went down:

i saw him sitting in the stands at the game and convinced my friends [who didn't even know who he was...what?] to come talk to him with me. i said he did a very wonderful job at the preseason game the other night and he said thank you and i asked him if he knew the vanderwerkens and schaffers from his home stake and he said yes and they are a great family and i said i'm a vanderwerken! and he said it was very nice to meet me and i said it was very nice to meet him too and i told him good luck with the season and he said thanks very much.

i wasn't excited or anything.

if that wasn't great enough, somewhere there exists a photograph of jimmer fredette with his arm around me. and when my friend's friend finally emails it to me, i will be the happiest girl on the BYU campus.

story number two.
at the game before the SDSU game last night, my friends and i were holding these lovely signs that we made once upon a time:

not only did we get on the fan cam, [and, so my friend tells me, national tv!] but a girl from BYU magazine asked us if she could write down what our signs said and our names and emails so they could be featured. no big deal.

story number three.
after the SDSU game wednesday night, which i attended with my friends nard and gregs, we went out to watch jackson emery ring the victory bell. on his way, he walked right next to us [it was packed with people] and he gave both gregs and i high fives. but when he walked past my friend nard, gregs yelled "touch him!" just meaning for her to give him a high five or something too. is that what nard did? nope. she touched his bicep. funniest moment of my life.

i'm just so happy! basketball is really one of my favorite things in the world, and i'm just so excited to be here at BYU, in a year where we've got such an amazing team, and jimmer is here, and we're ranked #9 in the nation, and we're movin' on up after the other night!

i love it. i love it, i love it, i love it.
i love my school.
it's jimmertime. all the time.
