can i just say I LOVE BYU BASKETBALL?
wednesday night we whooped the [previously ranked #4] san diego state aztecs.
i was there and it was one of the most exciting events of my life.
below is a wonderful and thrilling assortment of byu basketball stories and moments of glory. get ready to be impressed.
story number one.
remember that time when i talked about wanting to meet jimmer? well, if i've never mentioned it before...i did. i met him at one of the football games. and this is how it went down:
i saw him sitting in the stands at the game and convinced my friends [who didn't even know who he was...what?] to come talk to him with me. i said he did a very wonderful job at the preseason game the other night and he said thank you and i asked him if he knew the vanderwerkens and schaffers from his home stake and he said yes and they are a great family and i said i'm a vanderwerken! and he said it was very nice to meet me and i said it was very nice to meet him too and i told him good luck with the season and he said thanks very much.
i wasn't excited or anything.
if that wasn't great enough, somewhere there exists a photograph of jimmer fredette with his arm around me. and when my friend's friend finally emails it to me, i will be the happiest girl on the BYU campus.
story number two.
at the game before the SDSU game last night, my friends and i were holding these lovely signs that we made once upon a time:
not only did we get on the fan cam, [and, so my friend tells me, national tv!] but a girl from BYU magazine asked us if she could write down what our signs said and our names and emails so they could be featured. no big deal.
story number three.
after the SDSU game wednesday night, which i attended with my friends nard and gregs, we went out to watch jackson emery ring the victory bell. on his way, he walked right next to us [it was packed with people] and he gave both gregs and i high fives. but when he walked past my friend nard, gregs yelled "touch him!" just meaning for her to give him a high five or something too. is that what nard did? nope. she touched his bicep. funniest moment of my life.
i'm just so happy! basketball is really one of my favorite things in the world, and i'm just so excited to be here at BYU, in a year where we've got such an amazing team, and jimmer is here, and we're ranked #9 in the nation, and we're movin' on up after the other night!
i love it. i love it, i love it, i love it.
i love my school.
it's jimmertime. all the time.

ReplyDeletecan i just say that I love you??
ReplyDeleteBecause...Oh my GOODNESS EMILY!!!!! :D
I "ooohhh'd" and "aaaahhh'd" and laughed and cried (from laughing) and yelled AMEN throughout this whole post. I too have been getting into basketball. The appreciation started last night when I decided not to go to this concert with a guy I didn't like and went to both my brother's and my dad's basketball games...and even though I had to watch both teams get slaughtered, I LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF IT. It is exciting to get involved in the game and very engaging to watch. There is no way to predict what will happen...it is just so exciting to see how players will interact and react and the different plays and strategies...and I could go on. It will suffice to say that I will keep being daddy's girl and go to and watch games at home with him. So fun!! BASKETBALL ROCKS.
As for this post, those were the coolest and funniest stories EVER!! :D
i love it. i love it. i love it. i love it.
i love my cousin.
it's may day. every day.
i'm glad you read and enjoyed my very long and passionate byu basketball post! hahaha. and i'm glad you are enjoying cherry hill stake basketball games! our hall played a pick-up basketball game today against the other hall of girls in our ward. and it was super fun! [even though they whooped us.]
